What Is Prayer?

Prayer is nothing more, or less, than talking to God.  Yes, that's it!  You don't have to be in a certain place or have your body in a particular position to pray.  You do not have to clasp your hands together while praying, and you do not have to say certain words in the correct order.  The Most High is very open to receive us, and he just wants us to communicate with him.

When you pray, you do not have to use elaborate words or speak eloquently.  Our Heavenly Father is very interested on what's on our hearts and minds.  Of course, we do not want to dishonor the Lord with disrespecting language, gestures, and repitition.  Just know that, we may speak to Him from our soul, and make prayer a beautiful and peaceful experience, rather than a complicated one.

What Happens When We Pray?

1.  We draw closer to The Most High.
The closer we get to God, the closer He gets to us, and the more we become like Him.

2.  We open up the windows of Heaven for blessings to be received.
Our prayers affect Heaven in such a positive way, that, the Lord will show us mercy when we need it.  For instance, according to the Holy Scriptures, God pronounced judgement upon Hezekiah due to disobedience.  However, Hezekiah repented in prayer, and The Most High added 15 years to Hezekiah's life.

3.  We dismantle the enemy.
According to Luke 10:19, we have been given the power to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy.  And, nothing shall by any means hurt us.

4.  Our thoughts and actions become more positive.
When our thoughts become more positive, our actions follow suit.  It becomes natural for us to help those who are in need, to refrain from strife, and to put off hatred for others.

5.  We help change other people's lives for the better.
When we pray for others, God will move on their behalf by providing for their needs.

So, as you see, prayer is just a normal conversation with The Most High.  The Holy Scripture instructs us to pray without ceasing.  Therefore, you want to make sure that you always pray for yourself and for others so you may be steps ahead of the enemy's evil plans for your lives.

Remember, "Prayer is not preparation for the battle.  Prayer IS the battle".
